On 13 December 2010 the Department for Education announced the details of the school funding settlement for 2011-12. This was updated on 4 January.
This statement includes details of the local authority Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) allocations and the level of the Pupil Premium. Many existing general grants such as the EMAG grant, Specialist Schools (and HPSG) grants and the Standards Fund will be devolved to schools from April 2011, although some will not. For the National Strategy grants, "only the formula elements allocated to schools have been included, consisting of Universal and Targeted elements, Leading Teachers, Every Child initiatives, Early Years Foundation Stage, and two-thirds of the Modern Foreign Languages allocation". This does however mean that, although they may not be aware of it, schools continue to have notional support for primary languages and that they could choose to use this additional grant for workforce development.
