In early November many Universities expressed concern that recruitment by the British Council for the assistantship year abroad had been suspended. This was originally a result of the general marketing freeze imposed upon the DfE as other government departments. All funded programmes were then re examined to determine their “value for money” and “contribution to government priorities”. We are pleased to say that the situation has now been resolved and recruitment for English Language Assistants for the 2011/12 Academic Year is now open. The application process can be found on the British Council website at www.britishcouncil.org/languageassistants-ela-how-do-i-apply.htm. The closing date for applications is 14 January 2011 (except for China, which has a closing date of 28 February 2011). |
